This weekend, I posted up a picture of my Battle of the Mods movie poster, which isn’t (as yet) up for sale. The feedback was pretty impressive, so with that in mind, I’ve dug around for variations of the movie poster currently for sale on eBay and elsewhere.

The movie itself, I’ll admit, I’ve never seen all the way through. Some years ago, I made enquiries about it and the general response was ‘avoid’. You can’t buy official DVD releases of it anyway, but if you do want to buy, Videobeat has it for sale, albeit for a pricey $19.99.

The mid-60s movie is a German/Italian production, but bizarrely, set in Liverpool initially, with Ricky Fuller, a 20-year-old musician and mod involved in a gang fight with the rockers, during which his girlfriend dies. He flees the country to be with his father, which eventually turns sour after his father’s future wife attempts to ‘seduce’ him. I think you get the idea – it’s more of a mod cash-in than mod classic. A couple of video clips are at the foot of this page, should you want a taster. Both should give you a clear indication about the ‘quality’ of this production.

On the plus side, the original movie posters for the film are quite eye-catching and have become collectors’ pieces in their own right. But if you hunt around, you can still find cheap examples.

At the top of the page is a French poster, safely without the Battle of the Mods title. That’s available here for £36.82. Next to it is an Italian poster of the movie, which is available here for £26.84. Just above this paragraph is a pricier Italian poster, but certainly an impressive one. It will cost you £131.05.

Moving off eBay, you can pick up a couple of other examples, one of which is an absolute bargain. Above, you can see what I think is the US poster. Possibly a reprint (you might want to check), you can grab it for £19.20. More details here.

Finally, there is the one above, which is a vintage and original Belgian poster. It is original and sells for $35, which seems like a really good deal, It’s the one I have – and I’ve seen it for much more than that. Details for that are here.

As for the movie, there are a couple of clips on YouTube, which you can see below.
