I am updating this feature on the 1960s-style dresses by Swinging Chicks as they have changed so much over the last five years.

When I say ‘changed’ I don’t mean the inspiration behind them. Oh no. I mean that the range has grown considerably over the intervening years.

As you might recall, the range produced by Swinging Chicks is handmade in Spain, with the majority (but not all) of the designs likely to appeal to a Mod/1960s audience. I say not all because the designer does also drift into the 1950s and 1970s market too. But the core of the designs are inspired by the 1960s.

The dresses are all made to order, which means you can change the colour and the details of each dress and of course, you can choose to have it custom-made to your size if the ‘off-the-peg’ sizing doesn’t quite suit you.

Note also that due to the constraints on movement in Spain, some of the photoshoot images are vintage shots rather than actual shots. So instead, the designer is currently offering the Home Edition Collection, which is a range of vintage designs pulled from fashion pages and vintage patterns, being reproduced by Swinging Chicks. It’s a clever way of doing things in the current circumstances.

Want some examples of the work in question? I have a few here. Working down the page, the Mod orange dress at the top is £140. Further down, the A-line Mod collar dress in light blue is £132, the A-line with button detail in green is also £132, the Peter Pan collar in pink is again £132 and if you want a reproduction of the 1960s dress in yellow made for you, that will cost you around £149.

That’s not quite all as there is a later 60s Spirit of 69 range too, along with accessories and coats. Check out the yellow coat dress for example, which retails for £167.

That really is the tip of the iceberg with over 400 items currently on the site, some of which are in the sale. If things aren’t in the sale there is a discount code of BSAFE to get 10 per cent off at checkout too.
