20 Original Mod Classics CD

Modclassics

Regular readers of this site (and others I contribute to) will know I'm occasionally prone to cynicism, especially when it's something like a compilation album called 20 Original Mod Classics. As soon as I saw it in my inbox, I went straight over to sharpen the knife.

But despite my initial desire to rip it apart, there are a couple of reasons why it's not actually that bad – the price and the content. Apparently compiled by Johnny Chandler with sleevenotes by Paolo Hewitt, it's pretty run of the mill stuff, but with the likes of The Eyes, The Marvelettes, Timebox and David Bowie (Can't Help Thinking About Me), it's hard to be too critical.

Oh yes, that price – you can pre-order at Amazon for just £3.97. You can't even get a pint and a bag of crisps in some places for that. Full tracklisting over the page.

Careful if you pre-order this via Amazon app (on iPhone) as the default delivery option is NOT free Super Saver. This option can only be selected directly from website if you select it first at checkout. HMV also have the same CD for a few pence more with free delivery and in my experience are a bit quicker on delivery too.
