Adidas The Sneeker reissue

by Modculture 23 June, 2010

I know there are a lot of Adidas fans out there, so here's a new reissue for the summer – Adidas The Sneeker.

Dating back to 1979 (although it looks like an older shoe), The Sneeker was an all-round training shoe, but that sharp profile and minimal black and white colourway makes it perfect as a piece of everyday footwear.

This version offers up a 'soft perforated' leather upper, printed branding on the thin foam tongue and on the heel as well as an embossed adidas logo on the midsole. Available now, it sells for £59.99.

by Modculture 22 June, 2010

Ace Records has done another of its online guides to buying music, this time with a how to buy 60s garage rundown.

Alec Palao is the guide, introducing the genre and breaking down his recommendations into geographical areas.

Obviousl all those recommendations will be from the Ace back catalogue, but as they have so many gems in there, that would perhaps have been likely whether it was written for Ace or not. Anyway, check it out at the website

eBay watch: Philips 133 record player

by Modculture 21 June, 2010

Looking for a new record player? You could do worse than check out unused 1970s Philips 133 portable record player, which is up for grabs on eBay.

Dating back to the 1970s, it is indeed described as 'mint condition' and 'real museum quality', so we can presume this is a pretty decent model being offered. Features include battery or mains power, a 70s orange colour scheme, 33/45/78 speeds and a speaker that doubles as a case, complete with integrated handle.

All of that right now for just £1 plus postage costs.

PorTables – vinyl-inspired tableware

by Modculture 21 June, 2010

You may know Kavel Rafferty for her club flyers or if you were around, the sleeves of the free CDs we gave away for the Modculture Outta Sight club night amongst many other higher profile things. Well, she has now teamed up with Ella Doran to make PorTables

The new collection of tableware combines Rafferty's love of vinyl with Doran's distinctive product designs. It's all based around images of a collection of vintage portable record players which have been printed onto table mats and coasters. Vintage music lovers will now be able to eat to a slightly different beat.

A set of six table mats cost £39 while six coasters will set you back £21.
