Here is the sort of book record collectors and music obsessives love to hate, but purchase regardless – a compendium of 500 Lost Gems Of The Sixties.500

Well-known music author Kingsley Abbott has gathered together his favourite singles of the decade, all of which never made the UK Top 10. Featuring true stories, facts and general assorted trivia, it is definitely a book to dip into now and again, and help you weave together your knowledge of artists, labels and producers from the time. Artists featured include Fairport Convention, The Four Tops, Dick Dale, Martha & The Vandellas, Brain Wilson,  The Chantelles, We Five, The Shangri-Las, Edwin Starr, The Righteous Brothers, Bobby Moore, The Rhythm Aces, and many more.

500 Lost Gems Of The Sixties is published by Ovolo and is available to buy for £11.67 from Amazon here. A limited (500 copies) hardback edition is also available. The book has its own promotional Myspace page, which can be found here. And if you live in London get along to Filthy MacNastys on the 8th of July for the book ‘launch’ (starts at 8pm, and is free entry).
