by Modculture 16 August, 2009

If you're on the look out for some basement  funk, soul, jazz and blues, you might want to check out A Go-Go presents, which you'll find Downstairs at The Comedy Pub in Oxendon St, Piccadilly, London every 2nd & 4th Saturday of the month.

The venue is a basement club with a great sound system, with the night featuring the best acts on the funk, soul, jazz, blues scene, including Baby Charles, A Go-Go House Band (featuring members of The Getup, Gene Drayton Units), Mamafeelgood and on 22nd August, Rev Chunky + The Box Groove Coolers.

The voice of the New Mastersounds debut album, Rev Chunky is backed by Greig Robinson-bass (Nightmares On Wax, Chrissie Hynde) Patrick Illingworth-drums (JTQ, The Haggis Horns) and his long time collaborator Ben Barker-guitar (The Haggis Horns) – expect plenty of funk blues and soul. Supporting act The Box Groove Coolers are a four piece funk and groove band from Manchester. Admission is £6 in advance, £8 on the door – see the MySpace site for more details.
