Pleasure

A film that has passed me by this far, The Pleasure Girls will be released by the BFI and Flipside in the coming weeks on a dual-format disc (DVD and Blu-ray on the same disc).

When Sally (Francesca Annis) moves to London to pursue a modelling career, she moves in with Angela (Anneke Wills) and Dee (Suzanna Leigh) and discovers the world of the carefree bachelor girl in Swinging London. Over one weekend – filled with parties, blossoming friendships, and romantic encounters with Keith (Ian McShane) and Nikko (Klaus Kinski), the girls learn about life's pleasures and pains.

Shot on location in the capital and directed by Gerry O'Hara (with a John Barry score), it has all the special features you would expect from a Flipside release, including an alternative complete export cut (Blu-ray only), export version scenes (DVD only), the original theatrical trailer, The Rocking Horse (25-minute short about a romantic encounter between a teddy boy and an artist), The Meeting (a young woman's unconventional brief encounter with a mysterious lover) and of course, an illustrated booklet packed with information.

17th May 2010 is the day of release, Amazon is doing pre-releases at a heavily-discounted £12.99.
