Bardot

If you fancy blowing the family savings on vintage art, you need to get yourself down to the Pop Art and Op Art sale at Bonhams in London.

Lichtenstein, Warhol, Bridget Riley, Sir Peter Blake, they're all here, alongside more obscure but equally collectable names from past decades. Which makes picking out a real gem a tough job. Avoiding the Babe Rainbows of this world, we've gone for Gerald Laing's Bridget Bardot, a much sought-after screenprint from 1968, which was created in a run of just 200, signed and numbered by the artist himself and sold in a perspex frame.

The estimate is a hefty £5,000 – £8,000. If that's bit rich, there are cheaper works if you browse the lots. The auction takes place on 10th March 2010 at the New Bond Street premises.
