Boogaloo Investigators update

by Modculture 12 January, 2006

Thefiveaces150 Mod scene live favourites The Boogaloo Investigators are no more – well they are, but they have had a name change. They are now The Five Aces.

If you don’t know the band, The Five Aces (as it are now) is a rhythm and blues group, based in Glasgow, Scotland, playing the kind of music that gets people on the dancefloor. A growing amount of original material is accompanied live by
a choice selection of cover material – from Hammond-led instrumentals from the likes of Booker T & the MG’s, Jimmy McGriff and The Small Faces, to vocal numbers from the songbooks of Hank Ballard, The Gardenias, Gene Vincent and the like.

If you want to hear an authentic 60s R&B band (and by that I mean the kind of band that lugs a vintage Hammond from gig to gig), check them out if they’re in the area. You’ll also find the band in residence at Glasgow’s Soul Sundays or at the following places:

Saturday 11th February:
Needles Cellar Bar 5 Clipstone Street, London as part of the Fab club night.

Thursday 23rd February:
The Hi-Fi Club, Leeds as part of the Harlem Bush Club night.
