Stamp collecting might just become cool with the introduction of the Royal Mail’s British Design Classics postage stamps.

Launching on 13th January 2009, the stamps feature 10 icons of British design from the 1930s to the 1960s, including the likes of the Mini, the mini skirt, the Penguin paperback, Concorde, the red phone box and the London Underground map, all stylishly printed on a stamp with designer’s name underneath.

As well as the stamps, the Royal Mail will be offering a ‘prestige stamp book’ that offers more detail about each of the designs (one to look out for as a future collectable I’m sure), sheets of stamps to celebrate the 40th and 50th birthdays (respectively) of Concorde and the Mini plus limited edition medal covers, designed by the Royal Mail engraving team.

All will be available directly from Royal Mail from the launch date.
