Bronco Bullfrog – screening dates

by Modculture 12 May, 2010

We have mentioned it many times in the past, most recently when The Scenester reviewed the new print of it, but now you can see the restored Bronco Bullfrog on the big screen.

Barney Platts-Mills' cult movie from 1969 is noted as pretty much the only time the 'suedehead' has been captured on film, due to the director using 'street' characters from Stratford, East London to act in the movie. In terms of the story, 17-year-old Del and 15-year-old Irene are teenage lovers, looking to newly-released Bronco Bullfrog to help them live their life together. Not for the best.

Worth seeing for its 'time capsule' appeal as much the storyline, the newly-restored flick gets an outing ahead of DVD/Blu-ray release on the big screen at BFI Southbank, Genesis Whitechapel, East London, Irish Film Institute Dublin plus a few screenings at Curzon Soho. There will be two Q&A's with the film's director, Barney Platts-Mills, specifically at:
BFI Southbank, Thu 3rd June, 8:40
Curzon Soho, Sat 19th June, 16:30

Oh yes. See that new poster? It's unlikely to be offered for sale anywhere, but we should have some to give away. Keep an eye on the site for more on that.
