Charlie Bubbles DVD reviewed

by Modculture 8 September, 2008

An interesting 60s period piece has just been reissued on DVD – Charlie Bubbles.

It’s directed by and starring Albert Finney, with a screenplay by Shelagh Delaney (writer of A Taste Of Honey). And it’s also a semi-autobiographical tale that covers the real lives of  both of them, focusing on a writer (Charlie Bubbles), living a lavish lifestyle in London, but forced to head back to his native Manchester to visit his wife and child – and to see the world he represents, but no longer feels a part of.
