MOJO TO GO GO (BRIGHTON)
![]() Andy Roseaman talks us through the Brighton mod club. 1. When and why did you set up the club?
Mojo To Go Go started way back in 2005 at The Stagg pub, Kemptown Brighton. At the time there were no other 60s clubs in Brighton and we both love playing and collecting vinyl. Andy Roseaman (El Hammondo) and Dave Crozier (El Diablo). We have guest Djs each month. Just had Mary Boogaloo, Si Bridger of Do Ron Ron in March. Weve had Col de la Soul from Modesty, Mya and Dave Green from Brighton and other local DJs. 50s/60s RnB, Ska, Motown, Soul, Garage and Pysch Little Johnnie Taylor – Somewhere Down The Line 5. What do you think you offer that other clubs might not? We attract purists and tourists, so to speak. Age wise 18-60, good atmosphere and we spin vinyl only. Does what it says on the flyer/poster. Two years and three months. Before we were at the famous Sussex Arts club. Current venue is the Hanbury Ballroom - nice wooden dancefloor, classy décor and sensible bar prices. Capacity 170. Usually anywhere between 120 -180. Varies, recession doesn’t help but always 100 plus. Plenty to choose from around the country. Nice to see folk from all over UK at our nights. Best thing is excellent reviews in local magazines etc (see MySpace), good regular crowd-no nonsense attitude of the punters and nice mix of folk. Worst thing – Sussex Arts club being sold off and having to move venues but ok now. Address- The Hanbury Ballroom, St Georges rd, Kemptwon, Brighton. Once a month, usually last Friday per month but dates can vary. Admission £6/5 conc. Start 9.30pm and finish 2.15am.
