Of course, everyone should own a copy of the All Too Beautiful Steve Marriott biography. Hopefully Can You Show Me A Dream – The Ronnie Lane Story by Paolo Hewitt and John Hellier will be equally as essential.

The book is a crowdfunded project ahead of a release via Griffiths Publishing in May 2017. So if you want to see it, back it. More of that in a moment.

For now, more about the book, which is essentially a companion book to the Marriott biography and the first full scale biography of Ronnie Lane. Details beyond that are scarce, but it is likely to be a substantial and well-researched volume focusing on the ex-Small Faces and Faces man, as well as a solo artist in his own right.

Now the funding part. All books will be signed by Paolo and John. Every subscriber will have their name printed in the book. You simply need to subscribe to get yourself in there. There are lots of options, from committing to a book through to add-ons, such as t-shirts, tickets to a Q&A with the authors, reproductions of set lists and lyrics – even a CD of Ronnie Lane and his band The Outcasts from 1964.

The CD is interesting. Left in a drawer by one of Lane’s ex-bandmates, the rehearsal tape was acquired by John Hellier 20 years back. The contents are a Bo Diddley cover and a couple of self-penned tracks never released, along with some chat between the tunes. A rarity indeed.

If you commit to the top package, you get a copy. But if you just want a signed book, that starts at £22. You can find out more at the Pledge Music website.

Update: The book is now listed for order on the Amazon website.
