This is interesting, not just an album, but a 1960s-inspired graphic novel is also part of Inner City Beat! – Detective Themes, Spy Music And Imaginary Thrillers on Soul Jazz.

The album is out in a couple of weeks on download, CD and double album (with download code), offering a selection of detective themes, spy music and thriller scores, all of which are taken from British library music companies (DeWolfe, KPM, Conroy, Amphonic for example), which supplied music to TV and films in the 1960s and into the ’70s. If you want a taster of the kind of thing on offer, check out this KPM Spotify playlist we showcased some time back.

To accompany the album, Soul Jazz has commissioned a 60-page graphic novel which features the artwork of illustrator John C. Patterson and the words of pulp fiction novelist Mark ‘Badly’ Antringham, along with a storyline set in the imaginary streets of East London in the 1960s. It comes free with the initial run of the album.

As for the album, you can order it now at Amazon.co.uk, with the CD priced at £10.85. The vinyl is also available to order online too.
