Currently thriving on the South Coast in Brighton, Da Doo Ron Ron – ‘The legendary girl group extravaganza’ (says the NME) – celebrates its 8th birthday in October and is going back to its London roots for a one-off Christmas party on Friday 8th December.
Established in October 1998, Da Doo Ron Ron is a 60s orientated club night with a unique slant – DJs Chris ‘Da Doo’ King & Simon Bridger (Brighton northern soul all-dayers) only spin female-fronted tracks from the 60s (and very occasionally early 70s). Expect the likejs of The Supremes, Ronettes, Marvelettes, Shangri-Las, Chiffons, Crystals etc, sassy soul sisters like Aretha, Dusty Springfield, Brenda Holloway, Dionne Warwick, Tammi Terrell and playful popstrels as Petula Clark, Brigitte Bardot, Lesley Gore, France Gall, Lulu and Helen Shapiro.
The Christmas special is at its original home of the Buffalo Bar, 259, Upper Street, Highbury & Islington, London N1 1RU. Entry is £5 all night.
