Exciting new London club

by Modculture 24 February, 2006

Wednesday the 1st March sees the launch of London’s newest 60s Ska/Reggae/Soul club – SKAVOOVIE.

Presented by highly acclaimed authentic Ska duo The Dualers, Skavoovie will be a twice monthly event held at Pop in Soho Street just off Oxford Street. This is a nice retro cocktail lounge style venue that has hosted a number of mod-related events since its opening a few years ago including Electric Orange, Acid Jazz’s Lava Lamp and more recently the relaunch party for Siggy Jackson’s Blue Beat label.

The night will take place on the 1st Wednesday of every month as well as the 3rd Thursday of each month.

The Dualers themselves will be playing live on each Wednesday date, whilst the Thursday dates will feature DJs only.

Guest DJs on rotation include Cello (Coast To Coast), The Matador and Steady D. The Matador is a great DJ from the Jamaican Sound System tradition and is a close friend of the legendary Duke Vin.

Full details are as follow:

Skavoovie @ Pop, 14 Soho St, London W1D (nearest tube: Tottenham Crt Rd). 7.30pm – 2am.

Admission is £10 on Wednesdays and just £5 on Thursdays.

Confirmed dates are: 1st March, 16th March, 5th April, 20th April, 3rd May, 18th May
