The film was shown here in Geneva last winter, but decided to wait until I could see it subtitled in a language I could understanda bly buy a pack of Gitanes and a Pernod cocktail. The DVD came out about a month ago, but like many other French language flicks, it didn’t have any other language options. Then we decided to cancel our trip to Finland this autumn, so I won’t be able to see it in cinemas there either. Looks like I’ll have to wait again for the finnish/uk dvd release. Gutted.

Jane Birkin and Brigette Bardot. It's a hard life for some. Poor lad.

Definately one I'll be catching on DVD if it's not in the cinemas.

On Wednesday 11 August they're showing it at Hyde Park Picture House in Leeds with Cléo de 5 à 7 on before it - seen it many times on DVD but not on the big screen so will be worth going.

same here slim, it's a very rare occasion to see us at the flicks these days.

mate of mine has had a snide copy on dvd for a while now, bit i've held off temptation to watch it on the big screen.

can't wait, few beers first thinks i.

Went to see it yesterday.  Some lovely eccentric touches and fine performance s.  Great to see so many pre-teen kids smoking fags too!

Possibly the best cast film I've ever seen - uncanny portrayals of Gainsbourg, Bardot and Birkin.

Really sad to learn that the actress who played Jane Birkin killed herself not long after the film wrapped.

Saw it last night, really liked the 1st half but thought it got a bit slow in the 2nd half.

Loved his 'mug' alter ego though. Looked like a gallic Frank Sidebottom. ..maybe ol' Frank had a French cousin....

Just back from the cinema, although I enjoyed I was expecting a bit better.

I found the film to be witty at times especially when the 'young Serge' asks the model to strip naked when she asks why he anwsers "I can't paint bras" - I kinda laughed out loud at that one.

I'm not convinced the film needed the alter ego as it took a lot of the seriousness out of the film but I can see why it was there.

For the smoking - jeez, thank feck I never took up that filthy habbit. Cool, I suspect if you're a smoker yes but surley not for the kids.

Will I rush out and buy it on it's DVD release, probably not.
