There’s a very interesting story behind this new book from The Ice Plant, which is simply titled Found: The Rolling Stones.

The title hints at the contents of the book, which is actually ‘found’ photos almost 50 years after they were taken. The photographs were taken while the band were on a 1965 tour through Savannah, Georgia and Clearwater, Florida. Fast forward 50 years and they were discovered in an unmarked box at a flea market in Southern California by musician and art collector Lauren White.

The images are described as ‘relaxed and unguarded’, with the band caught jut prior to the megastardom of a year or two later. No one seems to know who the photographer is and an appeal to find out has so far proved fruitless. So there’s still a touch of mystery about the shots.

Probably a lot less mystery when they appear in this new book, which is a hardback volume of 64 pages, featuring 29 colour shots, including the ones you see here.

The book is published in the UK on 31st October 2014, but available to pre-order now, priced at £11.08.
