by Modculture 2 April, 2009

Before we get to the Glasgow mod weekender in June there is an earlier opportunity to taste some live blues at the Glasgow Rhythm & Blues Weekender.Glasgow R&B Festival

Taking place on the Mayday Bank Holiday weekend of May 1st, 2nd and 3rd, the cream of European blues acts descend upon the luxurious (and former jazz club) Winchester in the city centre. Expect to see and hear Berry Tweed & The Chasers, The Fabulous Ottomans, George Sueref, The Tennessee Hotshots, Big Boy Bloater, and The Bottleneckers. DJ support comes from Gaz Mayall, Jazzmand Gerald and Lucinda Slim.

As a bonus on the Sunday afterrnoon the 50-strong Glasgow Gospel Choir will perform alongside a free record fair. Tickets cost £10 per day, or £25 for a weekend pass, and are available from Tickets Scotland here.

Visit the official festival site here, and you befriend them on Myspace here.
