Manchester's finest R&B club (and arguably the finest anywhere), the Hideaway Club, is ending after 12 years. Not because of a lack of continued success (numbers have never been higher), but because the people behind the club (Mike, Paul and Neil) just can't devote the time to it on a monthly basis.

The last of its current format will take place on Saturday 26th March, with guest spot from two of Manchester's R&B legends – Les Hare (the first-ever guest DJ) and Barry Tasker, the first customer through the door.

A new, less regular format might appear for the club and the Manchester Mod Weekender will still take place in July. But a sad day for the mod scene nonetheless.
