I saw this in the new issue of Shindig!, but so far I've not been able to find out much more about it (links, flyer etc). So I'll let you know roughly what I've read about the Hit The North real ale festival.

It's essentially beer meets 60s grooves. Talking place over the weekend of 4th – 6th February 2011 at the Snooty Fox (above) 175 Grosvenor Avenue, London N5 2NN, it offers  real ale headed up by Dirty Water from Redemption Brewery (in honour of Dirty Water Records) and something from Northern Brewing, who do northern soul-inspired beer would you believe – more on that at their website. Also, to go with those beers and many more at the free event, there's plenty of tunes.

Friday see the Dirty Water DJs playing garage beat soul and R&B, on Saturday afternoon, the New Untouchables will play mod and psych classics (to be confirmed), while Sunday is given over to the Nitty Gritty Club for soul, funk and R&B. Also on the bill is Soul Shack and the Corn Rocket Club.

No contact details for more info, but the Snooty Fox is on Twitter – you can follow them here. For you seasoned drinkers, discounts will be available or CAMRA members with a relevant membership card. Opening times are Friday, 3pm–1am; Saturday, 12 noon–1am; Sunday, 12 noon–midnight.
