If you didn't get the Observer this Sunday past, you'll have missed Jon Savage's rather interesting article on 1960s magazines. Luckily for us, The Observer sticks just about everything online.

Which means thw article, which covers the success, influence and importance of the 1960s magazines, is available to read online right here. It actually ties in with something equally interesting, an exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery caled Beatles to Bowie: the 60s Exposed, which runs from 15th October 2009 to 24th January 2010.

The catalogue features an article about the era from Savage and no doubt, some very tasty images. That will cost £30 when the exhibition gets underway. You can find out more about the show at the NPG's website right now.
