Following on from the recent screening of The Night James Brown Saved Boston in London comes news of a 3-DVD set of classic ’60s performances from the great man.
Disc 1 of I Got The Feelin’: James Brown in the ’60s features the directors’ cut of The Night James Brown Saved Boston, the film documenting the April 5th 1968 Boston Garden concert that came only a day after the Dr. Martin Luther King had been shot and killed. It features performance footage and the personal reminiscenc es of James Brown’s band members, activist Al Sharpton, and personal manager
Charles Bobbitt. Disc 2, ‘James Brown Live At The Boston Garden’, shows the whole concert as it was broadcast that April 5th.
Meanwhile Disc 3, ‘James Brown Live At The Apollo ’68’, sees Brown performing at the legendary Apollo
Theater in Harlem in March of 1968. There are also three bonus tracks on this final disc: televised performances of ‘Out of Sight’ from The T.A.M.I. Show, 1964, ‘It’s A Man’s Man’s Man’s World’ from 1967, and ‘I Got You (I Feel Good)’ from 1966.
