Keb Darge & Little Edith's Rockin' R'n'B

Darge

It might not be the only release of its kind on the BBE label, because Keb Darge & Little Edith’s Legendary Rockin’ R&B album is described as the first in a 'series', setting out to expose lesser known or forgotten lights of R&B music from the 50s and 60s.

Interestingly, the press shot I got says that 'Keb Darge is always ahead of the curve of the tastemakers in this growing 'new' scene', which is surprising as early R&B has been a regular on the mod scene for years – Manchester's Hideaway Club has been playing it for over 10 years to name just one place. Ho hum.

But ignoring that, this album is certain to appeal if early R&B is your game and it will be available on CD, double vinyl and as a digital download from 28th August 2010. See over the page for a full tracklisting.

  1. GREAT TRACKS BUT THIS IS NOTHING NEW. MANY CLUBS HAVE BEEN PLAYING THIS KIND OF MUSIC FOR YEARS AHEAD OF THE CURVE IS HELLZAPOPPIN – LADYLUCK -JUKEBOX JAM RIGHT ON. TO NAME A FEW THEY SHOULD HAVE ANY CREDIT IN KEEPING THIS MUSIC ALIVE & KICKING! THEY ARE THE TRUE DJ WHO BRING NEW OLD MUSIC TO THE CLUB WORLD!

  2. I agree with previous post. Great tunes but seems like a pointless compilation really and nothing new or fresh here most have been played (and still are) on both the Mod and the Rockin scenes for years. Most are available on other comps too! Plenty of DJs have been playing this stuff for years! Keb’s hardly ‘ahead of the curve’ here!

  3. See them all before – agree with the last two posts
I am sure most people have heard this stuff before.
Most of it is on Youtube as well.
    Where is the new stuff?

  4. Clubs have been playing this stuff since it was made. However, seen them “ALL” before my arse. The Cyclones for one is an un-released test press from the Music City haul John Manship got. Also I did give a heads up to Nino, Tim, Lady Kamikaze, etc. Lots of comps around indead, but very few legitimate ones. Can I also point out that Tim from Hellzapoppin, and Nino from Lady Luck did not a lot of the tunes I put on here. Had to say it…
