You might need to get up early if you want to own the limited edition Quadrophenia demos being released for Record Store Day.
Record Store Day takes place on April 21st 2012 (this Saturday) and is basically a way of getting YOU into a record shop, rather than ordering online. In reality, it’s a eBayer’s dream, with many of the rare issues going straight up for auction. Like this one.
The release here is from Pete Townshend, with two releases, one for the US, one for the UK. In the US, one EP of Quadrophenia demos are being made available, while in the UK, a 2x 10-inch vinyl set of Quadrophenia demos is coming out, limited to 1,000.
The tracks are:
EP One:
Side 1: The Real Me (demo), Cut My Hair (demo), Punk (demo)
Side 2: Dirty Jobs (demo), Is It In My Head (demo), Any More (demo)
EP Two:
Side 1: I’ve Had Enough (demo), Drowned (demo), Is It Me (demo)
Side 2: Dr Jimmy (demo), Love Reign O’er Me (demo)
You can find out where the participating stores are (and about other releases) on the official website but you might want to check with smaller places in advance – the lion’s share of the stock will certainly end up at the bigger indie record stores. None will be available online – except for the later eBay auctions.
Oh yes – thanks to Jason for the tip off.
