Mod-friendly events at Filthys

As we have mentioned previously, Filthy MacNastys is hosting the Mods: Influences and Aspirations exhibition – and to accompany it, Filthys has put together a short programme of mod-friendly nights (outlined below). The address is 68 Amwell Street, London EC1R 1UU, with more at the website.

Sunday 6th July – Mickee’s Sunday Explosion

The 6th of July see’s the return of the Mod cabaret otherwise known as the Sunday explosion! A light hearted event which explores the record boxes of a dedicated explorer of Sixties Soul and Mod club vibes!  This month Mickee is joined on the decks by Tim ‘The Mod’ Fuller.

Tuesday 8th July – Book launch – 500 Lost Gems of the 60s

Kingsley Abbott’s 500 Lost Gems of the Sixties is a lovingly presented collection of artwork, true stories and gossip surrounding a very special selection of seven inch UK singles, all linked by one fact: each one was robbed of a top 10 position! To celebrate the book Ovolo Publishing are organising a one off event, starting at 8pm.

Thursday 17th July – Tall Poppies

From 8pm – catch a band on the up for free.

Saturday 19th July – Darron J. Connett aka Connett

"His song writing captures sublimely and effortlessly stories of London council estate urban living in a way that only Dickens could match, fusing the contemporary with the classic. The lineage going from Davies, Weller, Albarn and now Connett. This is Darron and his new collaborator Glen Fuller, new line up, new songs & a fresh outlook.. "

Thursday 24th July – Terry Shaughnessy

"Terry Shaughnessy supported by Wutar Alex Gold Shaughnessy is a musician from the North West of England whose constant pursuit of melody & hooks keeps him reaching for something classic. Somewhere between Paul Weller and Damien Rice, Shaughnessy supported great artists such as The Christians, Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros."
From 8pm – free admission.
