Been behind getting city guides up, so to make it easy for all concerned (including us), we’re going to condense single city guides into just one page. We’re kicking off with Stockholm, with thanks to Kim Dahlberg for his help in getting this up.

Nitty Gritty

Herr Judit (two different shops in Stockholm)

A mix between selected clean vintage and some new stuff from brands like Barbour, Ralph Lauren, A.P.C., Acne and more lesser known brands. Also with a lot of accessories like scarves, sunglasses, ties etc.

Brandstationen
This is owned by the same people from Herr Judit. Situated in an old fire station = brandstation, they offer vintage furnitures, decorations and more accessories.

A huge department store in central Stockholm with everything from clothes, perfumes, flowers and food. On the mens clothing level you’ll find stores from Eton, Barbour, Burberry, Polo Ralph Lauren, Paul Smith, Fred Perry, Levi’s etc. In the womens section you’ll find Acne, Burberry, Filippa K etc.

Sivletto

This is actually a rockabilly haven well hidden behind a small door and a narrow staircase. They’ve got loads of clothes, both new and vintage, but also a hairdresser and a café, and you can always find something for your mod needs. They’ve got a great denim collection, some nice knitwear, hats & caps, and loads of dresses for women, for example the brand Popkitten who makes lovely skirts.

This is where I’ve cut my hair the last six years. He’ll now all your references since he’s a member of the Stockholm Mod Scooter Club and in the speakers there’s always soul, r’n’b, 60’s. The place is decorated with a jukebox, checkered floor and 50’s barber chairs. You can’t go wrong.

Housed at the legendary jazz nightclub, Fasching, this is the longest running soul club (since 1993) in Stockholm. Every Saturday you’ll get your fair share of 60’s soul, funk, latin, northern soul, rare grooves, boogaloo, jazz, hammond grooves and modern soul. Guest DJ’s has been Keb Darge and Dean Rudland for example.

Bangers ‘n’ Mash

Every other Saturday or Friday at Marie Laveau. Is run by Magnus Carlson (Weeping Willows, The Moon Ray Quintet) and Robert Plaszczyk. This has been the Mecca for anglophiles in Stockholm for over seven years now. Chosen sound is northern soul, 60’s, britpop and indie mostly from vinyl. Sometimes they also host a live band. Guest DJs throughout the years (many of them has been there again): Eddie Piller, Dean Rudland, Andy Lewis, Jonny Owen (Svengali), Andy Bell (Ride, Hurricane #1, Oasis, was a resident) Paolo Hewitt, Peter Hook (Joy Division, New Order), Bob Stanley (Saint Etienne), Alan McGee, Ian McCulloch & Gordy Goudie (Echo & the Bunnymen), Shaun Ryder (Happy Mondays), Mani (Stone Roses, Primal Scream), Andy Rourke (The Smiths), Mark Gardener (Ride), Gem (Oasis, Beady Eye), the list goes on.

Club Killers
