If you enjoyed the recent France Goes Beat Spotify playlist, perhaps you want to investigate some modern-day French mod sounds? You could start with French Boutik.

The band describes their ‘moderniste’ sound as being from the modern era, but ‘with a clear nod’ to their 1960s influences. They also mix French and English lyrics, inspired by their heroes Ray Davies and Jacques Dutronc. They also add that their music is for fans of Jacques Dutronc, Makin’ Time, Style Council, Frnacoise Hardy, XTC and The Kinks, if any of those float your boat.

French Boutik has its first EP (pictured above) out right now on the CopaseDisques label, which you can listen to in full on Spotify right here. You can also check out the videos below, one a sampler of the EP, the other a video of their live appearance in London last month.

If you want to know more about the band and to keep up to date, make sure you check out the band’s Facebook page.
