Spoke

Perhaps should have mentioned this a couple of week back (when it did officially launch). Spoke Records that is.

It's a new vinyl/45 label specialising in tunes that will, in the main, be mod friendly – 60s soul, mod R&B, blue-eyed soul, 60s jazz and psych are all genres mentioned for future releases, with new tunes around every two months or so.

The first double-header is out right now, a late 60s popcorn track from Carl Douglas called Don't Mind If I Cry (complete with Tony Hatch production job), coupled with what's described as a 'Femme Rockabilly / R&B revenge murder ballad' – Shirley Bates' Crimpton Krompton Canary Bridge.

Both can be heard and bought on the website – £7.50 including postage gets you one. Look out for the next single soon, which is by Frog and taken from everyone's favourite British cult 60s biker horror – Psychomania.

Love Modculture? If you enjoy what you read or have benefitted from it and want to help with the ever-increasing costs of the site and newsletter, you can always buy me a coffee at Ko-Fi. Every penny is helpful and appreciated.
