There is a rare chance to catch the Swinging London documentary Three Swings on a Pendulum on BBC iPlayer right now.

This rare documentary was first shown back in 1967 and asks if London actually was ‘Swinging’ at the time.

It follows arts reporter Robert Hughes, writer Lewis Nkosi and journalist Olivier Todd to get ‘an Australian, African and French perspective’ on the city and its reputation at the time. There’s also plenty of input from the people of the city itself.

Not only that, but it’s also a wonderful and slightly left-field snapshot of a city and an era, which is the big selling point here, even if it is a little ‘dry’ at times.

It lasts 47 minutes and is 47 minutes well spent. The documentary is part of a wider ‘London Collection’, with plenty of other interesting content sitting in there too.
