I didn’t know there was a John Stephen archive. But there is and it where this John Stephen pop art collection by Art & Hue comes from.

I probably don’t need to explain who the ‘King of Carnaby Street’ was. Suffice to say he was the driving force behind the boutiques of that particular street in London, including the likes of The Mod Male, His Clothes, Trecamp, Male W.1., Domino Male, Drugstore, The Village Store, Teenstore and many more.

Of course, the movers and shakers of the era flocked to the stores, which obviously helped the publicity machine carry on through the 1960s.

If you want the full story, do have a read of the biography by Jeremy Reed.

This collaboration between Art & Hue and John Stephen estate has allowed the former to go through the archive and pick out the best photos and promotional material from the 1960s, with 12 prints available in three sizes and 23 colour options, all using Art & Hue’s signature halftone style.

They are also printed on museum-quality archival card of 310gsm, made from 100% cotton, using pigment inks which are said to last a lifetime.

Do check out the images here and if you like them, prices start at around £15.
