I haven’t yet seen a copy of this, but from what I can see online, The Who: The Official History in hardback by Ben Marshall looks to be an essential for the Christmas list.

The book is published by Virgin Books and comes in at 320 pages. It is also written with the help of Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey and has an introduction from The Who’s manager Bill Curbishley, hence the ‘official’ bit.

The content seems fairly self-explanatory – the history of the band in book form, featuring personal, never-before-published photographs, fan memorabilia and anecdotes, captions from Pete Townshend, contributions from friends, colleagues and family and ‘newly discovered gems’ from The Who archive. pretty much everything a fan of the band would want and expect.

If you want one, it is out on 8th October (so out by the time your order gets sorted more or less), with Amazon doing it for a discounted £20.40.
