You’ll have to get up early if you want the new Paul Weller single, as it’s a Record Store Day release.
Why so early? Well, previous experience of RSD events suggests a queue at most participating stores from the early hours of the morning, with many punters opting to buy what they can, then selling the stock on eBay just hours later. So if you want to beat the sellers, you’ll need to get to your local store when they do. or pay a premium on eBay in the afternoon.
The double a-side single is Flame-Out! / The Olde Original, with the vinyl exclusively released on April 20th for RSD via Virgin. If you aren’t a vinyl collector, the single will be offered as a digital release on the following day for one month only. The single comes in a Virgin house bag featuring the ‘Virgin Twins Logo’ designed by quintessential 70s album sleeve artist Roger Dean.
According to Weller, who says he still shops in indie stores: ‘It’s great to do a record that’s released specifically for Record Store Day. There’s so few record shops left that we should all treasure those remaining’.
