Want to get up close and personal with Pete Townshend for a fiver? You need to get a ticket for his talk at The Blues and The Birth of British Rock Music Exhibition in London.
The exhibition itself runs from 12 – 16 February 2014 and is essentially a local interest event. According to the official write-up, The Blues and the Birth of British Rock Music will piece together Ealing’s connection with the world of rock music, focusing on the beginnings of the British Rhythm and Blues boom that eventually produced the likes of The Rolling Stones, Manfred Mann and The Who. It’s free to get in and if you are in the area, should be worth a look.
But there’s more than that. A spin-off talk features Pete Townshend, who will be discussing his musical career with The Who, his ties to Ealing, where The Who played at the Ealing Club, and his autobiography ‘Who I Am’.
If you want to attend, it takes place at 5pm on Sunday 16 February at Questors Theatre, 12 Mattock Lane, Ealing W5 5BQ. You will need a ticket, but those tickets cost just £5 online.
But be quick, as tickets are already flying out – and I suspect the venue isn’t big. If you can’t make it, don’t forget that the 50 Years of The Who photo exhibition by Colin Jones at Proud Galleries is on around the same time, which is where the photo above is taken from.
