Not that I have anything against a Tootal scarf. Far from it. I love them and always have done. I still keep an eye out for vintage designs when I’m in a charity shop, although finding cheap secondhand ones isn’t as easy as it once was. Everyone is wise to the fact and aware of the price of new ones.

If you want to see how much, have a look at the latest designs at Stuarts of London, with prices anything up to £50 for a scarf. Nice, but not everyone can afford to pay that much for a vintage-style scarf.

This is where Pretty Soul comes in. Plenty of cotton poplin cloths to choose from, all with a distinctly vintage look and all individually handmade in the UK, finished with the vintage-style logo.

All good? Well, almost. The difference is the edging. If you want the hassled end, you might want to stick with Tootal or some if its other high-end competitors. That’s the detailing you are paying for.

The Pretty Soul scarves differ because they have a ‘tubular’ construction. In other words, a closed end. It might be a deal-breaker for some people. But the price might just tempt you back.

Rather than retailing for up to £50, the Pretty Soul scarves go for just over £8. A significant saving. You can buy in bulk for the price of just one Tootal if you like the look of these. Have a browse of the full range at the retailer’s site.
