Tandy

The excellent Rare Mod EP series on Acid Jazz continues with a real gem for its fifth instalment – an EP from Sharon Tandy.

It's an interesting one too, with the lead song actually written as a potential Eurovision entry for the 60s hipster. But From Mexico With Love never actually made it before the deadline and has been lost in time ever since. It's backed up with three other previously unreleased tunes, rare versions of Daughter Of The Sun and Somebody Speaks Your Name, plus the previously-unheard Roundabout.

It's out as a CD or limited edition 7-inch vinyl single. Acid Jazz was talking about releasing a box for all these EPs, not sure if that's happening. But we know this is out to buy from 16th May 2011. Oh yes, check out over the page for some superb Sharon Tandy footage with Les Fleur De Lys at the Speakeasy Club in Paris, 1968.
