Jazz – the very word can have have grown men and women running to the hills in fear. But trust me, it doesn’t have to be like that. Some mod jazz grooves will hopefully put the case for the defence.

It’s a playlist of jazz-based grooves. Some full-on jazz, some influenced by it. Some lesser-known tunes, some dancefloor fillers and some absolutely obvious stuff – just to press home the point that jazz doesn’t have to be ‘difficult’.

It’s a work in progress and subject to change, but you can check out the two hours or so of tracks already listed right now. Let’s bring jazz back to the mod scene!

I’d like to thank Dean Rudland and Ace for the Mod Jazz compilations, which have been a big influence here. You can buy the series on CD from either the Ace Records site or Amazon (whatever you prefer). All are worth checking out. Also, thanks to Paul ‘Smiler’ Anderson, who produced some interesting jazz compilations some time back. If you bump into him, ask him about them.
