Swinging

A real swinging London rarity is up for auction next month – this Philips Swinging 60s fridge.

It's not some DIY job, the fridge was produced by Philips in a run of 500, nicknamed 'the 'Generals' Wardrobe' and intended solely for shop displays. However, affluent hipsters of the day also wanted one, so the pop art fridge was made in an extended run, selling for a hefty £73 12s 5d at the time.

According to the auction house, this design was a run of just eight, so impossible to find one today. Except at the Bonham's Vision 21 sale on March 16th in London – you can bid for this one. No estimate sadly, so just take your credit card and have a van on hand to shift it.
