It isn’t actually out until next year, but Swinging London: The Inside Story of the 60s Capital of Cool by Peter York looks to be a potentially interesting book.

Yes, the Peter York of Style Wars fame (which is long out of print), the book also has an introduction by Christine Keeler and an introductory essay by Stephen Bayley, said to cover the ‘inside story of the scene and its most notable players.

As for the book itself, that promises to celebrate ‘the unique period between 1964 and 1967 when London became the world’s most happening place, the epicenter of fashionable cool and heady hedonism’, courtesy of York’s words and a collection of ‘candid images’ capturing the key figures of the day – everyone from the Rolling Stones to Mary Quant.

That’s about all that’s known right now, apart from the it being published by Goodman-Fiell and covering 240 pages. If you are the forward-planning type, you can pre-order now for £30 or add it to your wants list in case it slips your mind between now and publication.
