The words ‘ITV’ and ‘arts’ might not sit comfortably in the same sentence these days, but once upon a time they did – and Tempo was the trailblazer.

Yes, before shows like Aquarius and the South Bank Show, ITV’s Tempo looked at the arts of the day. That day being the 1960s, with the show running for around eight years.

The show covered all areas of the arts – cinema, music, dance, photography, writing and much more, all with a slightly highbrow focus. It’s been unseen for decades, but someone at Network has obviously found time to dust it off, with the first of a series of reissues coming from 25th June 2012.

The first two-disc set mentions interviews, reportage and features on Jacques Tati, Stan Tracey, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Lee Strasberg, Tom Jones, Orson Welles, Harold Pinter, Charles Eames, Jean Luc-Godard and more.

If that sounds like your kind of thing, you can pre-order the five-hour set now for £13.99.
