Here’s an interesting one – The Afex are reforming for their first show in 41 years – and a new EP is also to follow.

The Afex, as you might know, cut one great 45 – She’s Got The Time. Then nothing. That was until Ian Grinham got on the case, who has spent 20 years looking into the whereabouts of the band.

Last November, he finally found an ex-member of the band and discovered that the bands were well up for a one-off gig. They might have done it earlier, but they had no idea that their single was a mod club classic.

Ian then organised the gig and approached Acid Jazz, who were interested in releasing some long lost recordings of the band (about half a dozen were found to exist).

If you’ve ever wondered about the band and who they were, get along to the 100 Club on Thursday 26th April, where the band will be playing that single, more besides (songs from their original set list) and doing a general ‘meet and greet’, should you want photos, signings etc. It should be quite a night.

The band will be supported by DJs Dave Edwards, Mark Ellis and Ian Grinhan, with tickets available from here for £12 in advance, £15 on the door. The event runs from 7:30 – midnight.

If you want to know more, give Ian a call on 07748 172344. We’ll have a review of that new EP soon.
