If you want to see it on the big screen, you can book tickets right now for a screening tomorrow at Somerset House. Otherwise, tune into Sky to see The Jam: About The Young Idea.

The documentary premieres on Sky Arts on 5th September 2015, with a DVD and Blu-ray release to follow in November if you don’t have pay TV.

From what I’ve read (not seen it myself yet), the reviews for the doc are pretty positive too. A new film by Grammy Award winning director Bob Smeaton, it traces the band’s formation and success during their all-too-brief seven year run, looking at the music, the politics, fashion and attitudes that shaped both the band’s music and the era.

About The Young Idea features exclusive interviews with Paul Weller, Bruce Foxton and Rick Buckler alongside fans describing the impact the band had on them. Archive footage aplenty, naturally.

90-minute running time in total, so a lengthy piece too. As I said, there are tickets for tomorrow in London if you want the big screen experience, other check it out on TV next week.

The exhibition has also been extended, so do check that out if you get chance. Well worth it. Also, curator’s tours every Thursday, which are limited space.

  1. I hope the interviews are among the three in the same room, rather than separate individual interviews…. one can dream, right?
