Dean Rudland continues his search for lost Latin soul with a new compilation, entitled The Soul Of Spanish Harlem. The Soul Of Spanish Harlem

This 20-track CD focuses on the sounds made by Nuyoricans in the late-60s, drawing on the output of labels Fania, Uptite, and Cotique, and includes sought-after sounds by artists such as Parrish, Joe Bataan, Ralfi Pagan, The Lebrons, Frankie Nieves and Tony Middleton/Bobby Matos

What's more, Dean has had access to photographs and archive data courtesy of Bobby Marin and the Fania vaults, making for a highly readable booklet that includes some in-depth interviews with major players in the New York scene. This compilation is likely to appeal to dancers, Latin lovers and vocal group fanatics alike.

The Soul of Spanish Harlem is out now on BGP, and available from Amazon for £11.98 here.
