I’m guessing it’s promotion for the Tommy Super Deluxe Edition box set, but the opening of a pop-up shop in London by The Who is still an interesting thing.

It’s described as a pop-up shop and pinball arcade, opening from November 7 – 15 at 19 Fouberts Place, off Carnaby Street in London. When the doors open, the shop will stock The Who and Tommy merchandise as well as original 1970s pinball machines, including a ‘very rare’ Tommy machine.

There will also be competitions. Whoever gets the highest score on the original Tommy pinball machine will win a special Fender Stratocaster signed by Pete Townshend. So worth popping in for that really. In addition,  eight exclusive pieces of Tommy artwork signed by Pete Townshend will be auctioned in store in aid of The Double O and Teenage Cancer Trust charities.

The first 10 people through the door on the opening day will be able to buy signed boxsets and the first 100 will receive a limited edition The Who lanyard. That should guarantee a but if a queue on day one.

The shop will be open Monday – Saturday, 10am-7pm, and Sunday 10am–6pm if you are planning a visit.
