Four 1960s classics squeezed onto two CDs make up The Treasure Isle Ska Albums Collection.
This is a new release for 2019, although ‘new’ is probably putting it a bit strongly. This set is all about 1960s ska.
At the height of this ska boom, Arthur ‘Duke’ Reid attempted to boost his reputation as a leading player on the local music scene with the release of ‘The Birth Of Ska’ and ‘Latin Goes Ska’, each featuring a dozen major Jamaican hits of the early 1960s.
Both are now hugely collectable albums and along with a further two original Treasure Isle ska collections, ‘The Skatalite!’ and ‘Don Drummond Greatest Hits’, return to the shelves in this two-disc set.
Yes, that’s right, four albums on two discs, plus an additional 19 Jamaican hits from the original ska era. The set is packed with classics and of course, is an A-Z of the scene’s brightest talents. Just check out the track listing below. You’ll see what I mean.
