A new website and now some ready-made shirts. But it is still mainly about the vintage handmade shirts from Trimfit by Lily.

This isn’t a new venture. Far from it. Lily has been dressmaking and tailoring for over 36 years and is someone who is well-known across the mod and skinhead scenes. Not least, for producing clothes with a heavy focus on the mod, skinhead and suedehead eras. Others try it and often produce large ranges of off-the-peg designs. But few do it with the attention to detail of Trimfit. That’s the big selling point here.

What is new is a brand new website showcasing the styles and cloths available to make (although you can obviously input yourself on details) and some ready-made shirts and skirts that are available in small numbers to buy online.

All garments are made-to-measure and are individually made to order by one person. So a single point of contact and a single maker who will listen to your specific needs and requirements. That’s not something you find a lot of these days – especially on the mod scene.

It’s a completely personal service and as such, might require a bit of patience. If you want something of quality, you don’t want it rushed. Saying that, it is generally pitched at 7-10 working days for a shirt, but if there is a rush of new customers, the wait will be longer. If you want something for a specific date, make sure you order early.

There are plenty of cloths available, which you can get a hint of from the imagery here. But you can use your own material if you have it. and as for the design, you can choose whatever you want. If you are a novice, I’m sure Lily will talk you through it – and the styles on the website certainly help. If you have had clothes made in the past, she will aim to match any requirements you have in terms of detailing. That’s the joy of custom. You get pretty much exactly what you ask for.

Fabric samples are available (see the website for details of that) as is a catalogue. Again, get in touch with Trimfit by Lily.

If you are in a hurry, you can check out the designs that are available ready-made right now. Styles for both men and women and in limited numbers. Stock inevitably changes regularly.

The ready-made designs are available from the Trimfit Shirts Etsy Store online. It’s also a good place to see a taster of what’s available. Prices for these handmade shirts are from around £75.

For anything else and more cloth/style inspiration, please have a browse of the Trimfit by Lily website.
