The Psychic Circle label has just released two compilations of UK bands in the beat and blue-eyed soul genres, both overseen by Nick Saloman.Try_me_out

First up is Try Me Out: Ballroom Beat Vol. 2. Following the success of volume 1, here are another 20 slices of prime British beat from the dancehalls of the early 1960s. Only four of these tracks have been previously compiled, making this a highly desirable document of the beat era. Highlights include tracks by Marshall Scott & The Deputies, Chris Sanford and The Coronets (featuring Mitch Mitchell on drums), The Addicts, and The Trendsetters.

And secondly we have Get Ready; UK Floor Fillers Vol. 3, which looks at the later ’60s blue-eyed soul numbers. Plenty of Hammond and brass to be heard on this compilation, and like Try Me Out most of these tracks have been uncompiled until now. Graham Bonney, Barry St John and PP Arnold are amongst the highlights from this dancefloor friendly set of covers and originals. Surely many a DJ will be seeking out numerous 45s following a listen to this CD.

Both compilations are available now from Amazon: Try Me Out here and Get Ready here.
