As we mentioned previously, The Who’s My Generation album is getting a reissue as a CD box set. When we wrote about that, we mentioned that a vinyl edition was coming out too. We were wrong about that – there are two vinyl editions planned for release.

One is a three-LP set, while the other is a two-album edition.

First up, the three-album set. That includes the original mono album as the first disc, with a second disc featuring a selection of mono bonus tracks and disc three featuring 11 of Pete’s demos from before the album’s original release. All of that is packaged in a ‘stunning gatefold sleeve’ with period/rare photos. A limited edition too.

Secondly, the two album set. That includes the original album remixed in ‘true’ stereo, while disc two features a selection of stereo bonus tracks. Again, packaging is in a gatefold sleeve with those rare photos.

Not that this second edition features a version of there album remixed in 2014, with ‘missing parts’ fixed, while some were actually rerecorded by Daltrey and Townshend on vintage kit due to fill in the gaps.

The three album set looks to be available from Amazon as well as Sound of Vinyl to pre-order. However, if you want the two-disc set, that is only available from Sound of Vinyl as an exclusive. £21.99 seems to be the pre-order price.

Note that the track listings seem to differ from site to site, so perhaps take with a pinch of salt just now as one must be wrong. The release date should be 10th February 2017 too.
