I might have to update my top 10 cycling tops and shirts for Mods feature to include these 1960s half-zip cycling tops by Fred Perry.
New releases and part of Fred Perry’s Reissues range, they seem (at the moment) exclusives at Fred Perry’s own website. I always look around in case there’s a cheaper deal going off somewhere else, but as far as I can see, these seem to be Fred Perry only right now.
Two colours available for these designs, which are straight out of a 1960s Fred Perry catalogue and have the classic cycling ‘look’ but work just as well (if not better in 2020) as casual items with a nod to the past.
Each one is a knitted cotton top with a zipped turtle neck and contrasting ‘sports’ panelling. They are trimmed with ‘chunky’ ribs and a two-colour stripe at the neck and cuff.
Both the red and the blue variations are going to be hugely popular and with the Bradley Wiggins range for Fred Perry being consigned to history, there is a gap in the market for Fred Perry for something cycling with a heritage look.
Not cheap though (which is why I was hunting around for other sellers). You are looking at £160 for these, with a full range of sizes available.
